In honor of women’s history month, students selected an influential women-historical or contemporary- and created a color pencil and marker portrait to honor her impact. Students were first introduced to basic face proportion techniques before drawing the final portrait. Importance was stressed on centering the eyes in the face and avoiding anime style when drawing: avoid making the eyes large, the neck too thin or chin too pointy. Below the portrait, students wrote about the individual’s accomplishments and impact. The project combines artistic skill building with social awareness, encouraging students to visually represent powerful stories of resilience, leadership, creativity, and change.
