Welcome to Vanessa Bielecki's Teaching Portfolio

The feeling of working on a piece is like no other. Making that connection between what you envision and putting something into a physical form that didn’t exist before, is amazing. It’s not just the end result; it’s also the journey. It’s the discovery of possibilities of using and mixing mediums, pushing boundaries, it’s the countless back and forth; the internal dialogue, it’s the patience, and it’s the therapeutic physicality of it all.

My love for art started at a young age, however it was in middle school when I started to seriously consider pursuing art. I had a wonderful art teacher that recognized my potential and encouraged me to audition for LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. It opened me up to a lot of different art courses and experiences. After, I attended The City College of New York and earned a bachelor’s of art degree and a master’s degree in Art Education. I am forever grateful to my middle school teacher and I remain determined to share this passion and joy with my middle school art students.

I strongly believe that art education is a necessity in the development of youth that are self-reflective, expressive, confident, and are critical thinkers. My goal as an art teacher is a positive classroom environment where students feel comfortable and safe to explore various art materials, express themselves within personally relevant themes, master techniques and skills, interpret and critique artworks, and employ art terminology within discourse.

You can find more information about me in Teaching Philosophy and Teacher Practice.

My name is Vanessa Bielecki and I am a visual arts teacher (grades 6-8) at JHS 278 Marine Park.
