In this project, students learned the foundational technique of one-point perspective in a pencil drawing of an imagined room that shows depth and space. This project encourages creative expression while introducing essential drawing techniques. Students learn step-by-step how to create a room in one-point perspective using a ruler and pencil on square paper. Students are guided through the process of plotting the vanishing point and creating the walls of the room. Students learn the importance of lining up the ruler to the vanishing point to establish the angles needed to draw a table, door, window, picture frame, and  light fixture in one-point perspective. Students then adorn and furnish the room with their own unique features, applying one point perspective to the additions. The step-by-step nature of the project makes it accessible to all learners, while advanced students can challenge themselves with more intricate details or complex compositions. The project allows them to make artistic choices that reflect personal interests, identity, or storytelling. This project is critical preparation for the surreal rooms project where realistic conventions are broken.
